We have had a busy few months...
April 2017 - Portsea Sound begins! Sea shanties, boat installations, community recording sessions and a big beach day are all a go go.
March 2017 - Portsmouth Festivities are launched with entertainment provided by Pete Truin and the Norfolk Broads, who will be back for our Sea Shanty Workshop as part of our Portsea Sound project in June. Download the Festivities brochure here and check out our Come Sing a Sea Shanty workshop.
Jan 2017 - Contemporary Connections will be the first organisation to be featured as part of Sound and Music's web project on the connections between food and music. Panels from our Musical Dining Table installation and a short essay on our project will be available to view.
December 2016 - Portsmouth festivities confirm that Contemporary Connections Sea Shanty workshop will be part of the festival fringe. Look out for further details on our lanuch event for our next project in Portsmouth in June 2017.
November 2016 - Sounding Food and Music and They Clapped Until She Bowed Once More are included in the Sound:Gender:Feminism:Activism catalogue published by CRiSAP University of Arts London.
July 2015 - Research on feminist sea shanties is disseminated at the Baltic Sea Shanty Festival in Mariehamn, Finland.
May 2014 - The Musical Dining Table visits Brighton Open Market as part of Breaking Bread, a community event organised by Strike a Light.
Jan 2013 - They Clapped Until She Bowed Once More is included in Laura Seddon's chapter on intergenerational relationships in Gender, Musical Creativity and Age edited by Lisa Colton and Catherine Haworth, published by Ashgate.
